Identity Management provides a variety of command-line tools that can be used to manage IPA servers and clients, allowing an extensive range of functionality that can be managed remotely, scheduled, or scripted.

B.1. Using Special Characters

The IPA command-line tools are run as any other utilities in a shell. If there are special characters in the command — such as angle brackets (> and <), ampersands (&), asterisks (*), and pipes (|) — the characters must be escaped. Otherwise, the command fails because the shell cannot properly parse the unescaped characters.
