Chapter 2. Supported versions of Windows Server

You can establish a trust relationship with Active Directory (AD) forests that use the following forest and domain functional levels:

  • Forest functional level range: Windows Server 2012 — Windows Server 2016
  • Domain functional level range: Windows Server 2012 — Windows Server 2016

RHEL Identity Management (IdM) supports establishing a trust with Active Directory domain controllers running the following operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows Server 2012
Important

IdM does not support establishing trust to AD with AD domain controllers running Windows Server 2008 R2 or earlier versions. IdM requires SMB encryption when establishing the trust relationship, which is only supported in Windows Server 2012 or later.
