Abstract

Welcome to Red Hat® Learning Subscription Course. You now have access to a focused, role-relevant training and certification experience designed to help you build skills in a specific Red Hat technology and achieve a defined business goal.

This subscription provides targeted, hands-on learning through a combination of self-paced content, live instructor-led training, and certification. You receive one year of access, including one instructor-led live virtual class, one certification exam with a free retake, and practical lab environments to support real-world skill development.

What’s included:

  • Two training modes

    • Self-paced learning: Learn at your own pace with on-demand content available throughout the year.
    • Instructor-led live virtual class: Attend one instructor-led class each year. Select from a list of all available upcoming classes based on the date, time, and instructional language that works best for you.
  • Certification exam voucher: Includes one certification exam voucher plus one free retake, which can be used to take the exam remotely or at select testing locations during your subscription term.
  • Cloud-based labs: 100 hours of hands-on lab time in Red Hat cloud environments to practice and apply what you learn.
  • Red Hat Training Bookshelf: Access to an e-book for your selected training course to support study and reference.
  • Expert chat: Get live guidance from Red Hat Certified experts on course material, available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Login

You will receive a welcome email with your login details and subscription start date. You can access these features by logging in with your Red Hat account ID linked to your subscription.

Start your learning journey

Live virtual training class

Each Red Hat Learning Subscription Course includes access to one live virtual class for your course. Get started by scheduling your class.

  1. To go to the course landing page of your course, click View on your course card on the home page or click Schedule from your My live events section.

  2. Review the class scheduling information and then click the Schedule button to open the global calendar. Class scheduling information page with Schedule button

  3. Use the filters to narrow down your options:

    • Time: Check the Start Time and End Time.

      Important: The schedule is global. Class times are provided in your selected time zone and might be listed at any time of day or night (for example, 2:00 AM vs. 2:00 PM). Ensure you choose a time that works for you.

    • Language: Filter by the class instructional language.
    • Guaranteed to Run: To confirm that the class will not be canceled due to low enrollment, look for Yes in this column.
    • Version: Ensure the version matches the software version you want to learn (for example, RHEL 9.0 vs. RHEL 10.0).
  4. To book your seat, select the radio button next to your desired class time, and then click Schedule. A confirmation window opens.
  5. Review the confirmation details carefully and then click Confirm. The Successfully scheduled message is displayed and you are redirected to the class management page.

Self-paced courses

Red Hat Training and Certification course content is provided in an interactive textbook format and enhanced with high definition videos. The videos feature instructors teaching the textbook material, working on labs, and discussing the quizzes.

When you click Continue or Start on your course card, you enter the self-paced learning interface.

  • Video and text: The content is presented in a split view with high-definition instructor videos alongside the searchable course text.
  • Navigation: Use the Table of contents on the left to jump between chapters and sections.
  • Tools:

    • Search: Find specific terms within the text.
    • Bookmarks: Save pages for quick reference later.
    • Bookshelf: Click the book icon to launch the e-book version of the course materials.

Labs

Each course comes with its own lab environment to practice the material while you learn. When you start a course:

  1. Click the Lab Environment tab at the top of the content viewer.
  2. Click Create to provision your cloud-based virtual machines. Some labs take several minutes to create.

    You have 100 hours of lab usage for self-paced study.

Red Hat Training Bookshelf

This is a learning portal, where your course e-books are available to you, both on and offline. Tailor your learning experience by adjusting the text size and enabling dark mode.

Certificate of attendance

You will receive a certificate of attendance for any self-paced course at 75% completion, or for attending a live virtual class. Certificates of attendance are available through Credly. Be sure to link your Red Hat account email with Credly in order to access your certificates of attendance.

Certification exam

Your subscription includes one certification exam voucher.

You can find exams in both the catalog and within skills paths:

  1. Go to the Catalog page.
  2. Expand Delivery Formats in the left menu.
  3. Select Certification Exam.
  4. Find the exam associated with your learning goals or Red Hat product.
  5. Click the View button on an exam in the catalog to see the details. The details page includes information about the exam, such as the description, prerequisites, format, and audience.
  6. View the Exam Readiness tab for tools to help you prepare for your exam.
  7. Click the Enroll button to activate the exam eligibility.
  8. Click the Schedule button to schedule your exam in the Individual Exam Scheduler application.
  9. Use the scheduling tool to find a testing facility. Red Hat exams included as part of your subscription are limited to individual exams, which can be scheduled at a testing center or taken as a remote exam. Only select Red Hat individual exam locations when scheduling your exam and searching for a testing center.

Reminder: You must use your Red Hat exam attempts during the term of your subscription. Your Red Hat Learning Subscription Course entitles you to one unique, individual exam attempt and one retake.

Note

If you do not pass on your first attempt, your subscription includes one free retake. The retake must be used within the term of your subscription.

Managing your schedule

Rescheduling or Canceling

If you need to change your class time, you can do so from the Live class tab on the course page.

  • Click the Reschedule button to select a new time.
  • 14-Day Lock-in Policy: You cannot reschedule or cancel a class if the start date is within 14 days.

    • If you are within this 14-day window, your enrollment is locked. If you do not attend, you forfeit your single class entitlement for this subscription. You can schedule a new class that starts in less than 14 days (for example, a class starting tomorrow), but after it is booked, it cannot be changed. Attending the class and labs

  • Launching the class: The Attend class button is displayed on your dashboard 72 hours before the scheduled start time. Clicking this button launches the virtual classroom environment.
  • Classroom Labs vs. self-paced labs:

    • Self-paced labs: These are the standard labs for self-study, accessible through the Lab Environment tab . They have a 100-hour usage limit per course.
    • Classroom labs: These are separate labs specifically for your live class. They do not count toward your self-paced lab hours but are only available for the duration of the live class. Lab Environment tab showing self-paced labs and classroom labs options

Homepage

When you log in, you will see the My activity section.

Your course card:

You will see the specific course you purchased prominently displayed.

  • Two ways to learn: The course card offers two distinct paths:

    • Continue / Start: Launches the self-paced version of the course (videos and text).
    • Schedule: Takes you to the scheduling portal to book your live virtual class. Each course has entitlement to one live, virtual class. Course card with View and Schedule buttons on the home page

Language

To adjust your interface language, use the menu located in the top right corner of your homepage. This action automatically updates course content if a translation is available for your chosen language. In cases where translations are not available, courses remain in English. A wide range of courses are offered in multiple languages.

Your profile

Click the avatar image in the top right corner of the screen to update your profile information, including your preferred name, email address, time zone, and country.

Course catalog

Even though you purchased a single course, you have access to additional supplementary content.

  • Click Catalog in the top navigation bar.
  • Filter Your View: The catalog lists all Red Hat courses. Items not included in your subscription appear grayed out.
  • Available to Me: Toggle the Available to me filter on the left sidebar to hide locked content and see exactly what you can access.
  • Bonus Content: You also have access to:

    • Technical overviews: Short, high-level videos on various Red Hat technologies.
    • Exam experiences: Practice environments that simulate the real certification exam setup to help you prepare.
    • Expert extras: Supplementary videos from industry experts that complement your course. Availability of expert extras depend on your Red Hat Learning Subscription course purchase.

Support and coaching

Support

For technical support issues, open a support case: . Click Support in the top left corner of the portal and fill out the form. . Access the Support tab in the top menu to open a support case if you encounter technical issues with the platform or labs.

For expedited support, you can use the chat support tool to directly contact someone who can help you. Chat support is available in your region from 8:00 AM on Monday to 5:00 PM on Friday.

Access the chat support tool:

  1. To launch the Resource Center, click the circle icon with a Red Hat logo, located in the bottom right corner of the window.
  2. In the Resource Center, click the Chat Support option. Doing this launches the chat tool.
  3. Click Send us a message to begin chatting with a Red Hat expert.

Expert chat

If you are having issues with a course concept, the expert chat feature puts you in contact with course experts who can provide coaching and help. You are allocated one chat of up to 30 minutes per day. Start by typing into the chat window and someone will assist you. The expert chat feature is available in your region from 8:00 AM on Monday to 5:00 PM on Friday. During your scheduled live virtual class, you will have direct access to a Red Hat instructor for questions and guidance.
