Chapter 4. Technology preview

Technology Preview features provide early access to upcoming product innovations, enabling you to test functionality and provide feedback during the development process. However, these features are not fully supported under Red Hat Subscription Level Agreements, may not be functionally complete, and are not intended for production use. As Red Hat considers making future iterations of Technology Preview features generally available, we will attempt to resolve any issues that customers experience when using these features. See: Technology preview support scope.

With this update, Visual Studio Code is available as an alternative editor as Technology Preview for non-restricted environments.

Tip

In Visual Studio Code, commands that are defined in the devfile appear as tasks. To execute such command, go to Terminal Run Task. Alternatively, F1 to open the Command Palette and type task to see a drop-down list of available task-related commands.

Important

Visual Studio Code availability is a Technology Preview feature only. Technology Preview features are not supported with Red Hat production service level agreements (SLAs) and might not be functionally complete. Red Hat does not recommend using them in production. These features provide early access to upcoming product features, enabling customers to test functionality and provide feedback during the development process. For more information about the support scope of Red Hat Technology Preview features, see https://access.redhat.com/support/offerings/techpreview.
