Part I. Red Hat OpenStack Platform identity providers


You can deploy one of two methods to authenticate for a user to authenticate to an identity provider (IdP):

  • You can connect the Red Hat OpenStack Platform (RHOSP) Identity service (keystone) to an IdP using LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)
  • You can use federation, in which the IdP sends an assertion to the Identity service granting the user access to the cloud.

While LDAP is used as a central authority for identity management and authentication, federation can be used to build single sign-on solutions.
