Red Hat Device Edge は、Red Hat の主導するオープンソースコミュニティープロジェクトである Red Hat build of MicroShift (MicroShift) と、Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) および Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform を組み合わせた、エンタープライズ向けのディストリビューションを提供します。

1.1. Red Hat Device Edge について

Red Hat Device Edge は、ベアメタル、仮想化、またはコンテナー化されたアプリケーションをサポートするスモールフォームファクターのエッジデバイスを必要とする組織に適しています。Red Hat Device Edge は、MicroShift とエッジに最適化された Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) オペレーティングシステムを組み合わせることで、デバイスエッジにおける大規模コンピューティングを実現するソリューションです。MicroShift は、より小型で軽量なフットプリントの Kubernetes オーケストレーションです。Red Hat Device Edge のこれらのコンポーネントを組み合わせることで、エッジにデプロイされたコンテナーの利点をすべて享受できます。Red Hat Device Edge は、Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform を使用して管理できます。

RHEL と MicroShift は、デバイスエッジコンピューティングのための単一のソリューションとして連携します。各コンポーネントを個別に更新できますが、製品バージョンの互換性を確保する必要があります。たとえば、MicroShift の 4.18 から 4.20 への更新には、RHEL の更新が必要です。次の表に示すように、Red Hat Device Edge のサポート対象設定では、それぞれ検証済みのリリースが使用されます。
