Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation provides the ability to deploy two storage clusters, where one is internal mode and the other is in external mode. This can be achieved only with the first cluster installed as internal in openshift-storage namespace while the second cluster is installed as the external in openshift-storage-extended namespace. Clusters installed conversely is not currently supported.
