9.5.3. Ring rebalancing and data movement
When you add storage devices, you must rebalance the Object Storage rings to distribute data across the new devices. The rebalancing process:
- Updates the ring configuration to include new storage devices
- Triggers background data movement to redistribute objects across all devices

Respects the
minPartHoursinterval between successive rebalances (default: 24 hours) - Can take hours or days to complete depending on cluster size and network bandwidth
注意
If multiple ring changes occur within the 24-hour minPartHours interval, manual rebalancing is required after verifying 100% replica coverage to ensure data durability.
During rebalancing, the Object Storage service continues to operate normally. Data movement occurs in the background without service interruption.
