7.1. Security updates
Check the latest information about Streams for Apache Kafka security updates in the Red Hat Product Advisories portal.
When running Streams for Apache Kafka on RHEL and using LZ4 compression, make sure that the native lz4 library is installed on both Kafka brokers and Kafka clients.
If the native lz4 library is not present, the lz4-java dependency falls back to a pure Java implementation. That implementation is affected by known security vulnerabilities. Installing the native lz4 library ensures that lz4-java uses the native implementation, which is not affected.
This requirement applies only to Streams for Apache Kafka deployments on RHEL. It does not apply to OpenShift-based deployments.
