Chapter 1. Introduction

This book provides information about configuring and maintaining Red Hat GFS2 (Red Hat Global File System 2). Red Hat GFS2 can be run in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 and later. For the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 release and later, Red Hat does not support the use of GFS2 as a single-node file system. For information about Red Hat Cluster Suite see Red Hat Cluster Suite Overview and Configuring and Managing a Red Hat Cluster.
HTML and PDF versions of all the official Red Hat Enterprise Linux manuals and release notes are available online at https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/.

1.1. Audience

This book is intended primarily for Linux system administrators who are familiar with the following activities:
  • Linux system administration procedures, including kernel configuration
  • Installation and configuration of shared storage networks, such as Fibre Channel SANs
