Chapter 40. Installing under KVM
This section describes how to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 in the KVM host.
Prerequisites
- Set up the Red Hat Enterprise Linux in LPAR mode as a KVM host. For more details, see the Installing in an LPAR section.
- Get familiar with the Getting started with virtualization on 64-bit IBM Z section.
Procedure
Create virtual machine with the instance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux as a KVM guest operating system, use the following
virt-install
command on the KVM host:$ virt-install --name=<guest_name> --disk size=<disksize_in_GB> --memory=<memory_size_in_MB> --cdrom <filepath_to_iso> --graphics vnc
