Chapter 1. Installation Prerequisites
Abstract
Before attempting to install and use Red Hat JBoss Fuse, make sure your system meets the minimum requirements.
Supported platforms
Red Hat tests and supports Fuse products on the platforms listed at Red Hat JBoss Fuse Supported Configurations.
Java Runtime
Fuse runtime platforms need Java 6, JRE 1.6.0_18 or later.
To develop applications for Fuse runtime platforms, you need Java 6, JDK 1.6.0_18 or later.
Note
Fuse products are only guaranteed to run with Java runtimes distributed by, or OEMed from, Red Hat (OpenJDK), Oracle and IBM.
Note
On Red Hat-derived Linux systems, gcj is the default Java distribution. In these cases, you must download and install an Oracle Java runtime and set the
JAVA_HOME
environment variable. You can also integrate the Oracle Java runtime into the alternatives(1)
system. See the alternatives(1)
man page for details.
Warning
Do not install the Java runtime under a directory path that includes whitespace. For example, the path,
C:\Program Files\Java\jde7
, is not an acceptable install path and will lead to unpredictable errors in Red Hat JBoss Fuse at run time.
Hardware requirements
The minimum hardware specifications for installing and starting up Red Hat JBoss Fuse are:
- Minimum Installation
- 90 MB free disk space
- 2 GB RAM
- Medium Installation
- 355 MB free disk space
- 2 GB RAM
- Full Installation
- 720 MB free disk space
- 2 GB RAM
In addition to the disk space required for installing and starting up the base installation the first time, a running system will require space for caching, persistent message stores, and other functions.
