Deprecated features

Deprecated features are those that are still included in Red Hat OpenShift Dev Spaces 3.31, but are planned to be removed in a future release. Customers are advised to consider alternatives before adopting deprecated features.

The embedded plugin registry remains deprecated

The embedded plugin registry has been deprecated since OpenShift Dev Spaces 3.27.

In OpenShift Dev Spaces 3.32, the internal Open VSX registry will become the default way for new installations to manage VS Code extensions for Cloud Development Environments (CDEs). This registry is an on-prem Open VSX instance that the OpenShift Dev Spaces operator deploys and manages in your cluster, configured through spec.components.openVSXRegistry in the CheCluster custom resource. It replaces the embedded deprecated plugin registry as the default extension source. The embedded plugin registry will remain available but disabled by default as an opt-in fallback for existing customers who rely on it. The deprecated embedded plugin registry will be completely removed in OpenShift Dev Spaces 3.34.
