Chapter 1. Performing storage operations in Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift
You can manage cloud storage in Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift (RHOSO) by using four primary storage services: Block Storage (cinder) for persistent volumes, Image service (glance) for instance images, Object Storage (swift) for unstructured data, and Shared File Systems (manila) for shareable file systems. These services provide flexible storage solutions for different use cases, from boot volumes to scalable object storage.
Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift (RHOSO) supports external deployments of Red Hat Ceph Storage 7, 8, and 9. Configuration examples that reference Red Hat Ceph Storage use Release 7 information. If you are using a later version of Red Hat Ceph Storage, adjust the configuration examples accordingly.
1.1. Block Storage service for persistent volumes Copiar enlaceEnlace copiado en el portapapeles!
You can use the Block Storage service (cinder) to provision persistent volumes that preserve data even when instances are terminated, with features for backups, snapshots, and encryption to protect your data.
1.2. Image service for managing virtual machine images Copiar enlaceEnlace copiado en el portapapeles!
You can use the Image service (glance) to manage virtual machine images and snapshots in a centralized repository, providing templates for launching instances and enabling instance cloning and restoration.
1.3. Object Storage service for unstructured data Copiar enlaceEnlace copiado en el portapapeles!
You can use the Object Storage service (swift) to store and retrieve unstructured data in a scalable, distributed system that organizes data into containers, or use Red Hat Ceph Storage RADOS Gateway (RGW) as an alternative.
1.5. Customizing Red Hat Ceph Storage configurations Copiar enlaceEnlace copiado en el portapapeles!
Red Hat OpenStack Services on OpenShift (RHOSO) 18.0 supports Red Hat Ceph Storage 7, 8, and 9. For information about customizing and managing Ceph Storage, see the documentation sets for your Ceph Storage version.
