What is CI/CD?
CI/CD stands for continuous integration and continuous delivery and deployment, a major component of modern DevOps approaches to application development. Applications must have seamless code and compatible versions as they are developed in an agile system, which can be accomplished through various automation tools.

How CI/CD works
The principles of CI/CD include two core concepts:
- Continuous integration means that when any developer submits code to a project, it works with all other code.
- Continuous delivery and deployment means that all deployed pieces of a project are compatible.
There are numerous tools that assist with creating CI/CD pipelines to allow for seamless, automated deployments that remain compatible and up to the latest established standards. Some examples we’ll discuss in this learning path are Jenkins and Tekton.
CI/CD allows developers the freedom to focus on building and innovating their projects, while testing, integration, and deployment are left to speedy, automated options. The result is more reliable code and stable experiences for end-users.
