Use the
dsconf
utility to update an attribute entry. For example:
dsconf -D "cn=Directory Manager" ldap://server.example.com schema attributetypes replace dateofbirth --desc="Employee birthday" --syntax="1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15" --single-value --x-origin="Example defined"
