Chapter 4. Technology Previews
This section provides an overview of Technology Preview features introduced or updated in this release of Red Hat Ceph Storage.
Technology Preview features are not supported with Red Hat production service level agreements (SLAs), might not be functionally complete, and Red Hat does not recommend to use them for production. These features provide early access to upcoming product features, enabling customers to test functionality and provide feedback during the development process.

Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.2 Container Image
Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.2 is now available as a container image. The rhceph-2-rhel-7 image is now ready to use on the Red Hat registry.
This update also introduces the following changes:

The Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.2 image supports the
cephuser and group. As a result, the Ceph daemons no longer run asrootand Ceph binaries no longer belongs toroot. -
The
OSD_CEPH_DISK_PREPAREandOSD_CEPH_DISK_ACTIVATEcommands are now supported. These commands are equivalents of theceph-disk prepareandceph-disk activatecommands.
