What is the migration toolkit for applications?

At a high level, the toolkit offers the following features:

  1. Analysis tools that scan and assess your existing applications to identify potential compatibility issues, dependencies, and areas that may require modification for migration to Red Hat platforms. You can perform bulk assessment and automated analysis to get both high-level and low-level insights that inform your modernization strategy and execution.
  2. A multi-language analyzer for added guidance that shows organizations what source code changes are needed for modifying and containerizing applications at the individual application level. Organizations can analyze hundreds of applications at once. MTA 7.1 includes full support for Java™, Tech Preview support for Golang, and Developer Preview support for .NET.
  3. Automated tagging and grouping of applications into archetypes based on attributes – allowing for a better understanding of the application landscape. This also delivers the ability to find high-impact modernization opportunities across the portfolio more easily through dynamic reports.
  4. Faster time to value with the capability to execute the most impactful migration work first,  by assigning timelines to various groups of applications. Organizations can keep track of migration progress - whether they’re working with internal or external resources by integrating with Atlassian Jira.

In the next resource, we’ll discuss the different use cases for MTA.
