Managing a cross-forest trust between an IdM and AD domain

Red Hat Customer Content Services

Abstract

Both Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) and Active Directory (AD) manage a variety of core services, such as Kerberos, LDAP, DNS, and certificate services. A trust relationship transparently integrates these two environments by enabling all core services to interact seamlessly. For example, a trust enables AD users to authenticate to services in the IdM topology.
Preparing the trust requires the use of common encryption types in IdM and AD, opening ports in the firewall, and to configure DNS and Kerberos realm settings. If the trust is no longer required, you can remove it.
