5.2. Deprecated Features

This chapter provides an overview of features that have been deprecated in all minor releases of Red Hat Virtualization.

Deprecated features continue to be supported for a minimum of two minor release cycles before being fully removed. For the most recent list of deprecated features within a particular release, refer to the latest version of release documentation.

Note

Although support for deprecated features is typically removed after a few release cycles, some tasks may still require use of a deprecated feature. These exceptions are noted in the description of the deprecated feature.

The following table describes deprecated features to be removed in a future version of Red Hat Virtualization.

Table 5.2. Deprecated Features
Deprecated FeatureDetails

OpenStack Glance

Support for OpenStack Glance is now deprecated. This functionality will be removed in a future release.

Remote engine database

A remote engine database is now deprecated, whether implemented during deployment or by migrating after deployment. This functionality will be removed from the deployment script in a future release.

Cisco Virtual Machine Fabric Extender (VM-FEX)

Support for the Cisco Virtual Machine Fabric Extender (VM-FEX) is now deprecated. This functionality will be removed in a future release.

Export Domains

Use a data domain. Migrate data domains between data centers and Importing Virtual Machines from a Data Domain into the new data center.

In Red Hat Virtualization 4.4, some tasks may still require the export domain.

ISO domains

Use a data domain. Upload images to data domains. In Red Hat Virtualization 4.4, some tasks may still require the ISO domain.

ovirt-guest-agent

The ovirt-guest-agent project is no longer supported. Use qemu-guest-agent version 2.12.0 or later.

moVirt

Mobile Android app for Red Hat Virtualization.

OpenStack Networking (Neutron)

Support for Red Hat OpenStack Networking (Neutron) as an external network provider is now deprecated, and was removed in Red Hat Virtualization 4.4.5.

OpenStack block storage (Cinder)

Support for Red Hat OpenStack block storage (Cinder) is now deprecated, and will be removed in a future release.

Support for instance types that can be used to define the hardware configuration of a virtual machine is now deprecated. This functionality will be removed in a future release.

websocket proxy deployment on a remote host

Support for third party websocket proxy deployment is now deprecated, and will be removed in a future release.

SSO for virtual machines

Since the ovirt-guest-agent package was deprecated, Single Sign-On (SSO) is deprecated for virtual machines running Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 7 or earlier.

SSO is not supported for virtual machines running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or later, or for Windows operating systems.

GlusterFS Storage

GlusterFS Storage is deprecated, and will no longer be supported in future releases.

ovirt-engine extension-aaa-ldap and ovirt-engine extension-aaa-jdbc

The engine extensions ovirt-engine extension-aaa-ldap and ovirt-engine extension-aaa-jdbc have been deprecated. For new installations, use Red Hat Single Sign On for authentication. For more information, see Installing and Configuring Red Hat Single Sign-On in the Administration Guide.
