16.11. Creating a partition table on RAID by using the web console

Format RAID with the partition table on the new software RAID device created in the RHEL 10 interface.

Prerequisites

You have installed the RHEL 10 web console.
For instructions, see Installing and enabling the web console.
You have installed the cockpit-storaged package.
You have connected physical disks and they are visible by the system.
You have created RAID.

Procedure

Log in to the RHEL 10 web console.
In the panel, click Storage.
In the Storage table, click the RAID device on which you want to create a partition table.
Click the menu button ⋮ in the MDRAID device section.
From the drop-down menu, select Create partition table.
In the Initialize disk dialog box, select the following:
1. Partitioning:
  - If the partition should be compatible with all systems and devices, select MBR.
  - If the partition should be compatible with modern systems and hard disks must be greater than 2 TB, select GPT.
  - If you do not need partitioning, select No partitioning.
2. Overwrite:
  - Check the Overwrite existing data with zeros option if the disk includes any sensitive data and you want to overwrite them. Otherwise the RHEL web console rewrites only the disk header.
Click Initialize.
