4.2. Initially Discovering and Importing Resources
Once the agent is installed and configured, it runs discovery scans for resources on the machine and report them back to the JBoss ON server. Before resources can be managed from the JBoss ON server, those resources must be imported into inventory, which essentially tags those resources as something that should be recognized and managed by JBoss ON. (Not all services or servers may need to be managed by JBoss ON, and those can be ignored by JBoss ON.)
Resources are imported through the Discovery Queue.
- In the top navigation menu, click the Inventory tab.
- Select the Discovery Queue item in the left navigation area.
- Any newly-discovered resources are listed in the Discovery table. The resources are listed in a hierarchy under the parent server (even if the server has already been imported).
- Select the checkbox by the newly-discovered platform and agree to select all of its children.
- Click the button.
Even after the platform has been imported, the JBoss ON agent continues to run more detailed discovery scans. Discovery checks for child servers and services of the imported resources. All of these children resources are imported automatically.
The Inventory tab can display all resources in the JBoss ON inventory.
