1.4. Setting up Java
Sun and OpenJDK Java are supported.
Note
The server requires the JDK, while the agent only requires the JRE.

After downloading and installing the latest Java, configure the system to use that version of Java. For example, to configure the JDK for the server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
- Set the
JAVA_HOMEenvironment variable to the installation directory.- Open the
.bashrcfor the system user that will run JBoss ON. For example:vim /home/jon/.bashrc

JAVA_HOMEenvironment variable to the specific JDK directory. For example:export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0/

- Set the system to use the correct version of the JDK using the system
