4.10. PTP

IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol Version 2 (PTPv2) is used to precisely synchronize clocks in an Ethernet network. When used in conjunction with hardware support, it is capable of achieving clock accuracy in the sub-microsecond range. As of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5, PTP is fully supported by Red Hat and compatible with the Broadcom (bnx2x, tg3), Intel (e1000e, igb, ixgbe), and Solarflare (sfc) network drivers.
